CDC warns about drug-resistant Shigella bacteria, stomach bug deemed "serious public health threat" - CBS News

Image
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it is tracking a rise in stomach illnesses caused by infections with "extensively drug-resistant" bacteria that leave doctors with few antibiotic options to treat patients. The CDC warns it now poses a "serious public health threat." Over the past few years, the CDC says there are signs the percentage of Shigella bacteria cases that are resistant to a broad swath of antibiotics has begun to climb steeply around the country. These strains can also spread their resistance genes to other stomach bugs. Analyses of these bacteria, dubbed XDR Shigella, have shown resistance to all of the typically recommended frontline antibiotic treatments for bacteria: azithromycin, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, and ampicillin.  Outbreaks of Shigella bacteria often spread through contaminated food and water, via surfaces, or through sex. Symptoms of the disease it causes, a form of dysenter

Image
Television technology has come a long way in recent years, and one of the most significant developments has been the rise of smart TVs. While there are many options available, one operating system that stands out from the crowd is Android TV. As someone who has tried several TV operating systems, including Samsung Tizen, LG WebOS, and Fire TV, I can say with confidence that Android TV is the best option. In this article, I will explore the reasons why. The first and most important reason is the large number of applications available on Android TV. As both Android TV and Google TV are versions of Android, they have access to the vast range of apps available on the Google Play Store. Even if an app is not available in the Google Play Store, there are other ways to install it manually. Such as downloading the APK on TV or sending it f

Google Play sparks calls of inconsistent data policies: report - The Hill

Image
Skip to content The majority of the most downloaded apps from Google Play Store have provided inconsistent answers about how safe user data is on their platforms, according to a report released by Mozilla on Thursday.  Mozilla, the not-for-profit organization behind the Firefox browser, looked at the 20 most popular paid and free apps in the Google Play app store for its report. It found that nearly 80 percent of the 40 apps reviewed had "some discrepancies" between the app's privacy policies and the information the app reported on Google's data safety form.   That form requires that apps declare how they collect and handle user data for apps available in the Google Play Store. The report then ranked those 40 apps on how transparently they disclosed their use of personal data.

To download the app, go to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and search "NDGF." "One of the first things you want to do after you've downloaded the app to the device is to add a profile to the device. It's basically the same account information that you've added when using the online services, bringing in your first name, last name, date of birth, and adding that profile," said Brian Hosek, North Dakota Game and Fish business operations manager. You can add multiple profiles or accounts to the app, which allows you to bring all your license information to your phone or other mobile devices to work offline. There are many important features on the mobile app that benefit outdoor users

Unity Software stock slides nearly 20% as mobile-ad spending dries ... - Morningstar

By Wallace Witkowski Currently weak quarter places pressure on second half of year Unity Software Inc. shares dropped nearly 20% Thursday after Wall Street was skeptical of the gaming engine and app monetization company's full-year forecast given a currently weak quarter and shrinking ad spending. Unity (U) shares fell as much as 19% to an intraday low of $30.75, their worst drop since May 11, 2022, when shares plunged 37.1% after the company revealed a flaw in its ad targeting tools that it had once touted as a workaround to Apple Inc.'s (AAPL)opt-out of using Identifier for Advertisers, or IDFA, in its privacy update Late Wednesday, Unity's forecast fell short of the Street consensus, and while the company told shareholders it was not forecasting a recovery in the mobile games ad market in 2023, one would be dependent upon an improving economy. Unity forecast revenue of $470 million to $480 million for the first quarter, compared with the S

How to analyze Google's SERPs - Search Engine Land

Image
SEO has a lot of moving parts. You have to worry about your content strategy, keyword selection, Google ranking signals, backlinks, and competition. When clients ask me if they can rank their site for a particular keyword, I conduct a SERP analysis immediately. I wouldn't know how difficult it is to rank for a specific keyword without analyzing Google's SERPs first. Defining SERP analysis So, what is SERP analysis? Search engine results page (SERP) analysis is the practice of analyzing the top-ranking pages for your desired keyword, spotting opportunities to rank for this keyword and trying to pinpoint difficulties in reaching the top of the search results. A SERP analysis demands that you: Search for the desired keyword. Evaluate
